Welcome to Ralph Waldo Emerson Elementary School, home of the Bulldogs.  My name is Vanessa Arevalo, and I am incredibly honored and excited to introduce myself as the new Principal of Emerson Elementary School. I feel very fortunate to join a school of dedicated students, passionate staff, and supportive families.

Emerson has an amazing office staff, wonderful Transitional Kindergarten to 6th grade teachers, fantastic classroom instructional aides, supportive intervention teacher, great noon supervisors, incredible custodians, and the Woodcraft Rangers after school to help you! 

The entire staff at Emerson is committed to providing a safe, nurturing, and caring community for your children each day while providing them with an exceptional learning environment. We strive for professional growth through the development of instructional practices, enhancing school culture, and implementing strategies to engage all students.

As partners in your child’s education, I invite you to support your children’s educational experience at Emerson Elementary School. Here are some things you can do at home:

• Ensure your child attends school daily and arrives on time, ready to learn.
• Support classwork and homework expectations.
• Read at least 20 minutes daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills.
• Ask your child about their school experiences, daily.
• Create a routine at home for healthy child development eg. guided access to screen time, a consistent bedtime routine, etc.

I also value open communication and collaboration with all members of the school community.  I am confident that together, we will create a truly enriching and supportive school experience for our students, and each other.  As we prepare for the first day of school on August 24th, I find myself filled with enthusiasm and anticipation. Let us embark on this exciting journey of growth and development. I cannot wait to see you all on the first day of school, and all the events throughout the year.
